Shanghai authorities have retrieved more than 900 dead pigs from a local river (Huangpu River) in the Songjiang district in Shanghai, China, and are investigating what killed them and where they may have come. The water quality has not been affected and to ensure tap water safety, authorities have beefed up quality examination at the water intakes as well as the whole water disinfection process. There are no reports of animal epidemic outbreaks in the city yet. To avoid water contamination, officials are still searching for and retrieving dead pigs. – USA China Daily
