Wow! This is some kind of terrifying! A sinkhole swallows car in Ross Township, Pennsylvania… And almost its driver!
Look at the pictures below… The driver would have drown almost rapidly since water filled the sinkhole instantly after the water main pipe broke! Terrifying!
ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania, 12.08.2014 – The owner of a Ross Township tanning salon rescued a customer from her car before it was swallowed by a large sinkhole in the parking lot as severe storms moved through the area Tuesday afternoon.
The owner of Hollywood Tans on McKnight Road says she pulled a customer from her car minutes before a sinkhole in the parking lot devoured it. Natalie Huddleston says she called Hollywood Tans owner Lisa Masley for help as her car was being swallowed by a sinkhole in the parking lot.
Natalie Huddleston: ” I started to back up when I heard a “thunk. I was kind of sticking up in the air, kind of disoriented. (I) hit the gas, nothing happened. No contact with anything in the back wheels. They were spinning. I felt a rocking motion and I felt myself sinking.
That’s when she decided to call Masley inside the salon for help. “I said, ‘Help, look outside, look outside,’ and she came out and she was able to help me climb out the driver’s side window because I couldn’t get the door open and we sat and watched my car go deeper and deeper and now you can’t see it. It’s gone.”
The tanning salon and other businesses were evacuated. Crews were draining the sinkhole Tuesday night, revealing Huddleston’s car underneath the debris and rubble.
The owner of the property is responsible for repairs.
I always have found sinkhole terrifying! But this Ross Township sinkhole is more than horryfying!
