Every five years, the month-long Gadhimai festival is held in southern Nepal to honor the Hindu goddess of power, Gadhimai. Within two days – starting today – approximately 300,000 animals will be brutally slaughtered, making this the world’s largest sacrifice of animals. During this ceremony, countless animals, from buffalo to rat, will be sacrificed near the temple dedicated to the goddess Gadhimai.

The last time the festival was held, in 2009, more than 250,000 animals were killed, according to PETA.
Actually, I would like to know the number of turkeys slaughtered for Thanksgiving! Probably more, but not in the same horrifying conditions!
