The Uinkaret field in Nevada was struck by an earthquake on June 3, 2015

A rare 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck in Northern Arizona at the long dormant Uinkaret volcanic field. This is the second earthquake striking dormant volcanoes within 4 days.

The rare earthquakes being recorded at these long dormant volcanic areas as well as those along the Oregon Coast in the past few days are most probably a sign of seismic unrest in the region.
