148 meteors reported by NASA’s All Sky Fireball Network over the USA on July 9, 2016

Every night, NASA’s All Sky Fireball Network scans the skies above the United States for meteoritic fireballs.

On July 9, 2016, the network reported 148 fireballs. Pretty amazing!

Source of the meteors are: 141 sporadics (random occurrences not associated with any particular meteor shower), 4 July Pegasids (meteor shower occurring between the 7 and 13 July), 1 theta Perseid (meteor shower occurring between the 7 and 13 July), 1 Northern June Aquilid (meteor shower occurring between June 10-26).

In the below diagram of the inner solar, all of the fireball orbits intersect at a single point: Earth.

The orbits of the space rocks are color-coded by velocity, from slow (red) to fast (blue). So most of these meteors were relatively fast to fast. You can find videos of these meteors here.
