Two apocalyptical mass die-offs occurred in the last two days in Chile and Colombia.

While an ‘algal bloom’ killed some 170,000 salmon in Chile, another massive fish die-off occurred in the district of Tasajera, Colombia, where hundred of thousands of fish stranded on a beach.

We are currently witnessing cataclysmic animal mass die-offs around the world. After more than 400 whales beached in New Zeland, now hundreds of thousands of fish die in Chile and Colombia. Terrifying!

Massive death of salmon in Chile

An algal bloom killed some 170,000 salmon in recent days in Chile, raising concern about an industry that was also devastated by an outbreak last year.

The current algal outbreak is not located near any of the salmon farms that dot southern Chile’s coastline but has infested sections of the shipping lanes used by producers.

Harmful algal blooms happen when the normally occurring aquatic plants grow out of control and produce toxic effects on fish.

Live fish being transported by local producers Australis Seafoods and Nova Austral were infected and killed earlier this month. The boats, which recirculate ocean water into the tanks to keep the fish alive as they are transported, inadvertently passed through the infested waters.

Warm weather and little rain were some of the reasons for the algae bloom last year, and Chile has experienced some of the same weather this year,” officials said.

A flyover on Wednesday by Chile’s navy and Sernapesca could not visually locate the algal bloom, which has a distinctive color, the government body said. So what killed them guys?

Death of thousands of fish in Tasajera, Colombia alarms fishermen

Thousands of dead fish were found over 4 km on a beach in the village of Tasajera, Colombia.

The cause of this mysterious mass die-off has not been found yet. Fishermen in the region are alarmed. Lack of oxygen? Red tide?? in the water, but that has passed from the Side of the sea is quite disturbing.

The dead fish are now being collected and some analysed to pinpoint the source of the die-off.

Two massive die-offs probably linked to giant ‘red tides’ in Chile and Colombia.

  1. This is probably because of the oceans are warming and algae is in a state overgrowth thus reducing the waters oxygen content.
