Every now and then, NASA outdoes itself. This time it comes from a time-lapse video the organization released on June 30, showcasing the aurora Australis lights in the southern hemisphere:

Did you see this blue flash? That was amazing! Here again in slow motion:

Here now some pictures of the mysterious blue flash:

A Russian astronomer has tried to determine what and where this mysterious glow came from. According to his observations, the blue flash came from the star ξ Peacock.

According to a Russian astronomer, the blue flash may have come from the double star ξ Peacock.

But if the star had experienced such a powerful outburst, it would have had recorded by telescopes or tracking stations, satellites, space vehicles in space and around the world.

  1. I saw this same blue light over head one night just a few months ago. I’m in Beverly Hills CA. Lasted 5 hours until I just left work. Even when clouds were absent, it was somehow there. Like it was waiting for me to stare at it. Videos and photos. No answer at all yet.

  2. The “ufo” is moving at the same speed as the edge of the aurora indicating it is the ISS that is moving in relation to the UFO. If the object is a satellite, then the disappearance could be explained by the lack of sunlight reflecting off it due to the change in angle of ISS.

  3. My comment has to do with previous ocean receding places in So. American cities. Could the water have been diverted to Hurricane Harvey? Just wondering if there might be a correlation.
