Mount Sinabung has caused the island to be on alert since September 2013, when it first erupted. Its previous explosions have been fatal, including one in May 2016, which killed at least seven people.

  1. Toba went off about 75000 years ago and most people on the planet died. As you know toba is adjacent to Sinabung. Perhaps 1500 mating couples survived world wide. We have nothing on that culture in our books!

  2. I saw a nicely dressed Indonesian woman wearing a modest skirt walking in the village there and then I saw all of the advertisements in the side margins with women wearing pants that have holes in them, trying to look masculine and I’m thinking, why is this happening to them and not America.

    • So instead of thinking what a shame that anyone has to suffer, you wish other people to suffer instead.

This is why I avoid religion.

  3. Let’s stand here, and take pretty pictures of the pyroclastic flow that’s heading towards us.

    Pompeii’s famous last words.
