Woah! This sinkhole in Madison, Florida is huge.
And, according to geologists, it is continuing to grow… A real nightmare!
The massive sinkhole (25 feet deep and 100 feet long) apparently opened up very quickly on Celosia Way in Madison, Florida at around 2:20 pm on July 14, 2014.at 1:45 p.m. to visit family last Monday. You remember this parking lot sinkhole in Florida?
Now the road is blocked off but residents can pass by.
Geologists say the hole in the ground is still expanding.
Last year, the Florida Geological Survey received a $1 million grant to study sinkholes and how they form. Such cover collapse sinkholes are caused by drought and heavy rainfall, develop fast and can be catastrophic. You can watch more photo of this monster sinkhole on the WTSP website.
