It’s going on for days now. South Russian tarantulas have invaded a small Austrian village called Nickelsdorf. Everything has started on September 24, 2014, as a kindergarten teacher found a large spider in her garden. It was so big she first thought it was a toad. Knowing this giant spider was not a normal sight, Daniela Pammer grabbed a jar and captured the arachnid. Now, experts of the Biological Station suspect that more than 50 wolf spiders are living in the garden and could spread across the village!

Although this type of tarantula (South Russian tarantula also known as wolf spider) isn’t dangerous for children, such giant spiders are just terrifying and get the hell out of you! They live in 30 centimeters deep holes and feed on mice. Yes, they are big enough to eat a mouse! Can you imagine?

According to specialists, the heavy rains of the last few days have driven the animals out of their holes. The russian tarantula is a so-called jumping spider whose bite is not fatal, but still creepy!
