That’s no joke! Black water was flowing from taps in Crystal City, Texas.
But an explanation for the darkened water only appeared on February 18, 2016, long after residents first noticed the problem the day before.
The city said it’s sediment that was flushed into distribution lines when the tower was drained to be worked on. And the city is advising residents to boil their water and/or let it run before using it.
That must have been pretty scary. Imagine watching this black sludgy smelly water flowing from your taps without any proper warnings.
The water was compared to black sludge and oil. And stinky.
This is normal when you hear that the tower hadn’t been cleaned in 20 or 30 years. Disgusting.
