Did the mystic bird cause the eruption? Well I don’t think so. But it may have arisen from the released column of ash and gas.
In Greek mythology, a phoenix is a long-lived bird – up to 1400 years – that is cyclically regenerated or reborn.
Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. Some historians say the phoenix dies in a show of flames and combustion.

In the historical record, the phoenix symbolizes renewals in general as well as the sun, resurrection, life in the heavenly Paradise, Christ, Mary, virginity, and certain aspects of Christian life.
