On July 16th, about 200 meters (600ft) of a street literally collapsed in a giant hole in Colombia.
This almost unbelievable natural disaster hasn’t swallowed up any vehicules but will close the road for a few weeks at least.
About 200 meters of the ‘vía al Cusiana’ collapsed at kilometer 116 in a sector known as Unéte of the village of Las Lajas, Colombia.
According to the available images, specialists believe, the collapse was triggered by groundwater and infiltration processes in the area of the adjacent slope.

The possible landslides or sinkholes have then washed out the support material supporting the pavement structure.
Investigations should occur shortly to make immediate decisions and allow walkability of the road and security for drivers:
Permanent construction works will only start at the end of the winter (summer for us). In the meantime try another route!
