Today, November 6, between 0:32 and 1:30, 17 earthquakes with epicenter north of the town of Adeje (Tenerife) have been captured by seismometers located on the island at around 10 km depth. The largest tremor was a M2.6. At around 4pm, a M2.8 earthquake hit approximately the same spot. It was followed by 2 other smaller quakes.

The earthquake swarm hit not far away from Mount Teide. Teide is an active volcano: its most recent eruption occurred in 1909 from the El Chinyero vent on the northwestern Santiago rift. The United Nations Committee for Disaster Mitigation designated Teide a Decade Volcano because of its history of destructive eruptions and its proximity to several large towns, of which the closest are Garachico, Icod de los Vinos and Puerto de la Cruz.

These measurements have been made by the new broadband sation near Adeje from the Tenerife Seismic Network. It has been placed in a borehole 30 meters underground. Perfect timing I would say!

  1. A huge chunk of land might slide down from those volcanic islands into the sea in order to create a gigantic tsunami. “They” had better monitor closely. But do not expect “them” to tell you the truth. “They” might hide the truth.

  2. I heard from someone who reads a lot of news from Africa that there is a big volcano out there that is considered a very serious tsunami threat to Europe.
