A strong M6.8 earthquake hit off the coast of Maule, Chile at 15:57 UTC (10:57 local time) on September 29, 2019.
No tsunami expected although the quake hit at a shallow depth of 15.8km (10 miles).
More than 350 people have reported feeling the quake on the USGS website.

The earthquake was first registered at a magnitude of 7.2 before being downgrded to M6.8 by the USGS.
