In the last 24 hours, the Popocatepetl volcano exploded twice.
Those 2 eruptions were accompanied by 78 exhalations, 563 minutes of tremors and a M1.6 volcano-tectonic earthquake, showing lava movement in the crater.
The two volcanic explosions occurred at 11:18 p.m. and 11:55 p.m while the M1.6 volcanic earthquake hit at 5:06 a.m.
The first eruption send a plume of ash and vapor up to 1 kilometer in the sky and ejected incandescent fragments up to 500 meters on the northeast slope of the volcanic peak.
Meanwhile, steam, volcanic gases and low quantity of ash drift in a east-northeast direction.
People have been advised not to approach the volcano crater due to possible ballistic fragments as well as lahars and landslides in case of heavy rains.
The Volcanic Traffic Alert Level remains at Yellow Phase 2.
