A major winter storm is currently barreling its way across the Western Rockies dropping snow from the PNW down to Northern Arizona.
The bulk of the storm is dumping snow throughout Utah, Idaho, western Montana, and western Wyoming and further north into Canada. The Sierras are the big winners racking up storm totals upwards of 60″.
The storm will continue to move east over the next day depositing leftovers in Colorado.
MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA RECEIVES 5-FEET DURING ONE OF THE BIGGEST NOVEMBER SNOWSTORMS ON RECORD
This early-season injection of cold has plunged south of the border too, deep into the United States.
California’s Mammoth Mountain is currently under 60 inches (5-feet) of freshly fallen snow after an early season storm delivered one the biggest November snow totals on record to the Eastern Sierra.
For reference, this is already the snowiest November of the last decade at Mammoth—and it’s only November 10.
The mountain should be open top-to-bottom this weekend, but it may take some time for crews to safely open everything given the historic amount of snow and also the outlook, which is calling for yet more substantial November dumpings.

Did you know that during the N hemisphere winter the earth is closer, 148 million miles from sun.? &During the N hemisphere summer the earth is further, 152 million miles from the sun? I recently learned this. My question is, should it be the opposite?

It’s good to see all the precip in CA but lake Mead is still disappearing and so is the Mississippi river. It is all geoengineered and the snow isn’t natural either. It’s created by spraying ice nucleating chemicals into the stratosphere which raises the freezing point of water, sometimes up to 45 degrees. Looks like the global warming and drought scam is knee deep in snow. I skiied Mammoth as a youth. Lots of intermediate fun little runs. They get earthquakes there too. It is a beautiful area. People will be happy and enjoying themselves. All the “snow bunnies” come out too. So, there will be partying and romance. WooHoo!
