At least 43 people have been killed in flash floods in Pakistan’s northwest frontier province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. A further 40 people have been injured while dozens more remain missing. Local authorities said the province’s Chitral district was the worst hit area, where 31 people were killed. Among them were eight security personnel, who died when flood waters swept away their checkpoint, leaving four others seriously injured. Elsewhere in the province, four people were killed while four others were injured when the roof of their work site collapsed. Search and rescue operations are underway.
