The U.S. Geological Survey reported a small earthquake near Paducah around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

The USGS says the quake registered at around 3.5 on the Richter scale, which is not enough to cause any significant damage but strong enough to be noticeable.

Our sister station in southern Illinois, WSIL, was flooded with comments from viewers on its Facebook page describing their houses shaking in the night.

Thank you for that! Do you really think the New Madrid Fault is waking up?
