Arctic Blast Creates Amazing Ice Halos Over Red River, NM On January 9, 2015

This dazzling ice halo was captured by Joshua Thomas in the sky of Red River, New Mexico as arctic blast continues to sweep across the US.

This optical phenomenon contains many different rings and arcs that form by light interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.
