Last thursday, 70 people were seriously injured in a vicious attack, when honeybees suddenly swarmed villagers gathering for a funeral ritual on the banks of the Wang River in Satara’s Patan Tehsil, India.

The injured were rushed to the hospital. This is the fourth such attack in a single month in different villages of the Dhebewadi valley.

The villagers, relatives, and guests had gathered for the funeral of a villager who died the day before. And the funeral almost turned

According to reports, around 10.30am, five or six bees were seen flying around. The insects did not attack anyone initially.

Then, a bigger swarm arrived and started attacking the attendees, who started running in panic in all directions.

People fell down and were crunched by others. The bees chased those who ran towards the village, resulting in more than 70 people seriously injured.

This is the fourth such attack within a month. Many people were injured during religious events at Kumbhargaon and Modkawadi in the Dhebewadi valley as well as during a Yatra in Sanbur.
