This stunning but complex solar halo was captured by Claudia & Wolfang Hinz, atmospheric optics experts, in the small ski station of Neklid in the Bohemian Erzgebirge on January 30, 2014. Low temperatures and high humidity created favorable conditions for the formation of “diamond dust.”
