A massive ice tsunami formed at Lakeside Park with a winter storm on February 24, 2017.
The large ice shoves sent Fond du Lac Yacht Club members scurrying in the night to save their building on Lake Winnebago from ruin.
Strong winds had pushed ice shoves as high as 16 feet onto the shore Friday night, and a mountain of white was pressing against the building.
The threatening ice was already on the rooftop when members arrived at the park about 8 p.m.
According to witnesses, the large amount of ice was very scary. It was coming up over the trees and the parking lot, forcing people who were helping to move their cars.
This giant ice tsunami appeared during a frigid storm Friday through Saturday which dumped 2 to 5 inches of snow throughout the area.
Glare ice toppled trees and power lines, causing dozens of crashes and runoffs and shutting down a major thoroughfare in Fond du Lac.
These guys were lucky enough that the ice tsunami did not engulf their homes and destroyed ther Yacht club!
