What is that again! This mysterious human-like teeth creature was discovered in a rice field by Maria Julia Candotti in the Province of Santa Fe, Argentina. The bizarre looking animal has alarmed local farmers who discovered it. It looks like an eel, but isn’t one… And she has already spotted plenty of these mysterious ‘monsters’.

A long eel-like body with wrinkled skin and a mouthful of ugly human-like teeth… I would also be terrified!

The message commenting the Facebook pictures states: “This creature got stuck into the pump we use to irrigate our rice fields. We do not know what it is. And this is not the first such creature we found. Be careful!

According to experts, this weird creature is a South American lungfish
(epidosiren paradoxa). These animals are able to breathe both in water and on land, but they are usually found in swamps.

Their huge teeth are need to break the shells of crabs and snails which make up a major part of their diet.

They build small caves in the mud where they go into and create a kind of cocoon where they can stay for two or three years without needing to go to the surface,” said Pablo Skarabotti, a professor at the local institute of lake science.

This fish is only found in the Amazon, Paraguay, and lower Parana River basins in South America. Thus scientists know relatively little about the South American lungfish.
