December 11 2012 – Major Explosion of a gas pipeline in Sissonville, West Virginia, USA
A gas line explosion was reported at around 12:40 p.m. near the town of Sissonville, West Virginia. on Tuesday the 11th December 2012. The blaze and following fire destroyed multiple homes, blocked and damaged the freeway, disrupted power and phone lines but did not kill anybody. Only smoke inhalation-related injuries were reported. As visible in the first movie, the inferno flames reached up to 100 feet. Great catch! So hot that even the top asphalt from the highway started to crumble. The surroundings of the explosion have been evacuated
For residents who lost their homes or could not get home, Aldersgate Methodist Church in Sissonville opened as a shelter for the night.
