This mysterious 20-foot-high flame started erupting from the ground during the boring of a tubewell last Thursday, June 2, 2016.
It is burning since then panicking residents who are looking for an answer to explain this weird phenomenon.
The fire started and it is impossible to stop it. Even a fire brigade were sent to put off the erupting flame… In vain.
As explained by the Hindustant Times: On Thursday morning, Rajkumar Sahu of Mandi Bamora village brought a boring machine at his farmland for the boring of a new tubewell.
When the boring work reached a depth of 400 feet, suddenly flames began to emanate with force, causing panic among the locals.
Thereafter the people began to pour water into the borewell to put off the fire but to no avail.
The boring machine operators fled the spot and soon the news spread wildfire in the whole area.
The spot has become a matter of curiosity since then. Some believe it is a miracle, other believe gods are angry.
This is third time such flames have been reported puffing from the ground.
As shown in this article (search for Mandi), there are pockets of methane gas beneath the earth in the area. When these are bored, the methane gas may ignite due to friction.
