The Wellington’s inexplicable hum is similar to the ‘Auckland Hum’ of 2006 and is one of many unexplained incidences of the Strange Sound phenomena heard worldwide explains Dr Tom Moir the specialist in audio signal processing at the Auckland’s AUT University. Dr Moir investigated the Auckland’s Hum in 2006 which source remains a mystery.
Dr Moir believes the stranges sounds are in the increase. He describes the Strange Sounds as a low frequency (long wave lengths) noise which can travel distances of up to 20km.
For people being scared of the sound: Put on a fan at night or play rain music to mask the noise.
As you have learned on this webpage, Strange Sounds have been heard all over the world, from the USA, to England, Scotland, Australia and China.
