INCREDIBLE! As a sign of solidarity, the American flag was projected onto the Matterhorn last night.
Switzerland is sending hope and strength to the United States of America.
A Swiss artist illuminated the iconic Matterhorn mountain of the Swiss Alps with a great American flag in a gesture of solidarity with the United States, as the nation is struck with the greatest coronavirus epidemic in the world by caseload alone.
The great mountain, one of the very tallest of the Swiss Alps, was covered with a great American flag beginning at 10 P.M. local time on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.
Artist Gerry Hofstetter prepared the projection from the nearby town of Zermatt. A local tourism agency, Zermatt Matterhorn, shared the technologically impressive display to the world in a press release, sharing the well wishes of the people of Zermatt with Americans.
“As it stands, the USA, is the country that has been most impacted by the COVID-19 crisis with the highest number of confirmed cases.
“Our thoughts are with all American people at this unprecedented time.
“May our message convey solidarity and give you hope and strength.
“We look forward to meeting again at the foot of the Matterhorn, we are all in this together.”
Hofstetter is also planning to display the national flags of several other countries afflicted with the coronavirus epidemic on the iconic Matterhorn mountain, such as Japan, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy.
No nation or government has the ability to bring an end to the coronavirus epidemic, but well wishes from some of America’s oldest friends are appreciated by many in these troubled times.
