Strong M6.1 earthquake hits Guatemala after two major volcano eruptions – Geological unrest

There is something big looming in Guatemala.

A powerful M6.1 earthquake hit off Guatemala on April 15, 2016 at 2:11 pm (UTC) just two days after two major volcanoes – Santa Maria and Fuego – erupted in the country.

There are strong geological movements currently happening in Guatemala.

First, two of the major volcanoes increased their activity at the beginning of the week. The Santa Maria volcano started erupting on April 11, 2016 followed by the Fuego volcano on April 12, 2016.

And today, a powerful 6.1-magnitude quake hit just off the coast of Guatemala, according to the USGS. The powerful quake shook Chiapas in Mexico, and El Salvador.

Authorities directly ruled out any risks of tsunami and neither damages nor injuries have been reported.

Although, I cannot clearly connect the quake with the eruptions, there is something big going on right now in Guatemala… And around the world.

The earthquake reported in Guatemala joins the series of devastating tremors that struck Japan on April 14 and April 15 2016, which killed at least nine people and left over 800 injured.

Increased seismicity and geological processes worldwide!
