An enormous and wild dust storm has engulfed Bedourie, a small town in Queensland, Australia.
The sand storm was so intense that it turned the town dark for about 90 minutes.

Bedourie actually means “dust storm” in the local Indigenous language. And residents have experienced something out-of-this world on December 5, 2014.

Electricity wasn’t cut but a dust storm quickly engulfed the town of Bedourie turning it dark (orange, reddy, sandy colour) for about 90 minutes.

It had gone from brilliant daylight to just, you couldn’t see to the end of the street. It just basically turned day into night! Quite amazing!

The wall of dust was kilometer wide, enormous, stretched toward the horizon in a line across the parched outback.

This unprecedent weather phenomenon is increasing in the area and is mostly related to the lack of grass cover due to the ongoing drought.
