A giant boulder the size of a two-story house fell onto the Southern Ohio Roadway overnight.
The rock fell around 2:30 a.m. Friday onto the westbound lane of U.S. 52 near Coal Grove, across the Ohio River from Ashland, Kentucky. The boulder is estimated to weigh about 1,500 tons.
No vehicles were struck by the boulder. One pickup truck collided with it, but the driver wasn’t seriously hurt.
The highway’s westbound lanes will remain closed through the weekend.
Drivers on Interstate 64 in Huntington, West Virginia are being detoured to US 23.
