Winter Storm Lana dumped more than a half a foot of snow in some places in Texas, leaving more than 150,000 homes and businesses without electricity Monday morning.
The storm that brought Texas snow this weekend is now moving into the Mississippi Valley and led to numerous accidents and disabled vehicles in Louisiana.

Winter storm warnings are still up for parts of East Texas through parts of Louisiana and Mississippi with temperatures 20-25 degrees below average in some cities.
Interstates 49 and 220 near Shreveport, Louisiana, remained closed Monday morning because of the weather conditions, while several other state highways also shut down because of icy conditions.
Schools in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama canceled classes or delayed opening because of the storm. Moreover, Louisiana officials closed state government offices in 29 western and northern parishes because of the storm.
In Mississippi, Hinds County delayed opening government offices until 10 a.m. Monday.
The National Weather Service said as of 6:30 a.m. CST, snow continued to fall across Pickens, Lamar, Marion, Winston, Fayette, and Walker counties.
The wintry weather will wind down Monday with mainly rain and some thunderstorms for the Southeast on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the northern and central Plains through the Midwest will enjoy above-average temperatures this week.
With the bomb cyclone highway opening up, the Pacific Northwest continues its active pattern with heavy rain and mountain snow this week. This system will push into the Northern Rockies Monday night.
