The earthquake activity on Friday, May 13, 2016 was especially high from Pakistan to Hawaii.
From 19 earthquakes in the area, only two were below M4.5. Insane
I think this is worth noting. According to USGS, 33 earthquakes (larger than M2.5) hit areas around the world. From these 33, 19 struck the Pacific. And from these 19 only two were below M4.5.
That’s a pretty amazing!
M4.5 – 106km W of Makurazaki, Japan
M4.8 – 7km SE of San Jose de Buan, Philippines
M4.5 – South of the Fiji Islands
M2.6 – 4km S of Volcano, Hawaii
M4.6 – 171km NNW of Dili, East Timor
M4.1 – 202km NW of Nanao, Japan
M5.4 – 25km WSW of Qila Abdullah, Pakistan
M4.7 – 20km WSW of Qila Abdullah, Pakistan
M5.5 – 28km WSW of Qila Abdullah, Pakistan
M5.1 – 16km NE of Su’ao, Taiwan
M5.1 – 219km SE of Pondaguitan, Philippines
M4.5 – 57km W of Tobelo, Indonesia
M5.2 – South of the Fiji Islands
M4.7 – South of the Fiji Islands
M4.6 – South of the Fiji Islands
M4.9 – 99km WSW of Makurazaki, Japan
M4.5 – South of the Fiji Islands
If you add to the above list of quakes those that hit the Aleutiand Islands, Alaska and California, than you have the big picture…
But I would expect another strong quake in Asia or Pacific before the big one along the cascadia. What do you think?
