A sinkhole swallowed several buildings in the southern part of Guangzhou (China’s southern Guangdong Province) on Monday, January 28 2013. The cause might be the construction of a nearby subway station. According to CCTV (state television), the first building collapsed at around 4PM, followed by several houses shortly after, which sank into the crater. Around 300 residents were evacuated.
