The ALMA telescope has unveiled amazing pictures of the Boomerang Nebula, the coldest place in the universe with temperatures reaching – 272°C.

This temperature is even colder than the background glow from the Big Bang.

Previous observations made by the Hubble telescope suggested it had a lopsided ‘bow tie’ shape. It seems now that the twin lobes have been an optical illusion.

Nevertheless, this Boomerang is just looking fantastic with its eerie and ghostly shape.
