On the 6th of December 2013 a huge sinkhole opened up at First and L streets in central Bakersfield before swallowing a car.
According to the car’s owner, falling into the hole was like an earthquake! The sinkhole was caused by a sewer problem. The problem has now been resolved. [Source]
