This graphic on the South Korean ferry accident shows the known sequence of events that has left nearly 300 people missing.
Of the 450 passengers on board the ferry, 325 were students from a high school in Ansan, south of Seoul. The crew sent out a distress signal at 9:00 am (0000 GMT). Passengers testimony suggest it may have run aground as they heard a big thumping sound just before the boat stopped.
