Terrible! A massive landslide triggers swiss train derailment between Chur and St. Moritz.
It is still unclear if this serious accident has caused any fatal casualities (until now: 4 heavy and 2 light injured but no dead)! But look at the pictures below and guess!
A landslide is the cause of a serious train accident that occurred near Tiefencastel (GR), Switzerland. The train of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) derailed Wednesday around 12:45 near Tiefencastel, on the line between Chur and St. Moritz.
The train made an emergency stop in the middle of nowhere. All rushed to the back of the wagon to move the weight, so that the car does not swing in the air. Terrifying!
Other passengers were not so lucky: a car is indeed hanging in the trees. As this spot can only be reached by foot, it is difficult to secure it. It is unclear if people are still inside.
There are now four safety helicopters on site. Some divers have also been sent in case the hanging wagon drops into the water at the bottom of the gorge. One hundred unharmed but shocked passengers have begun to walk to the station of Tiefencastel.
The train most probably hit landslide debris blocking the tracks before derailing. Terrifying! This happened in one of the most gorgeous parts of Switzerland!
