The Soputan volcano eruption started on January 4, 2016.

The Soputan volcano, located on the Island of Sulawesi in Indonesia, erupted at 20 h 53 local time Monday, January 4, 2016 as announced by the National Agency for Disaster Management.

Authorities raised the alert level from level 2 to level 3.
Now any activity is prohibited within a radius of 4 km around the volcano.
The volcano is burning:
The volcano spews a cloud of smoke up to 2,000 meters above sea level towards the south west.
