The dead included three men and a woman.
The dead are believed to be garbage-pickers known as guajeros who search through the trash looking for recyclable material.
About 15 more people were taken for medical treatment after the collapse on Wednesday afternoon.
About 1,000 people were working in that area of the dump when the landslide occurred.
They were asked to evacuate but some refused.
Officials are now investigating the cause of the landslide.
