Have you ever seen an ice tsunami? Do you know what it sounds like? Watch this now, it’s fascinating!
Preparations are running to welcome the first tourists of the season around the lake of Oldevatnet in Norway. And it is during maintenance work at campsite that Kristin Sveum started hearing a strange crystal-like noise coming from the lake. It was thousands of tiny ice crystals falling on each others as a large wave of ice started engulfing the shore.
Here a VK video for those without Facebook:
The whole phenomenon lasted over an hour before the more common larger chunks of ice started emerging as in this area, ice breaks commonly into large blocks as the water presses it towards land.

A perfect ice-breaking party at Oldevatnet Lake in Norway. Hopefully this amazing phenomenon will fill up the camping site. Good Luck!
In recent years, large ice tsunamis have destroyed houses, infrastructures and cars around the world.
