While the Niagara Falls are freezing in Northern America, a gigantic 20-meter-high ice wall, extending over several dozens of kilometers, has formed on the verge of Xingkai Lake, a border lake between China and Russia, in Mishan, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. The New Ice Great Wall of China is composed of thousands of ice chunks and rafts of various size that have piled up by the force of wind.
A few days ago, the ice wall was only three to four meters high. Now, it measures an amazing 20 meters and still growing.
It is not common to see such scenery as the ice wall on the Xingkai Lake. Such a phenomenon requires lasting low temperatures, strong wind and water flow under the lake surface.
This unusual sight attracted many visitors and explorers that want to experience this huge wall of ice.
The mighty Nature created such a beautiful scene on the Xingkai Lake this winter. These ice chunks are of different shapes. It looks like an icy Great Wall. It also feels like immortals descending to the earthly world to enjoy the beautiful view.
