This year may be a record year for Oklahoma… In number of EARTHQUAKES. And this because of human operations.
An earthquake swarm has rocked Oklahoma, starting Friday, April 4, 2014 and ending Saturday, April5, 2014. The strongest quake (3.8 magnitude) shook houses around Oklahoma City on Saturday at 7:42 a.m. local time. It was preceded by 4 tremors between 3.4 and 2.4 on the Richter scale. In overall, Oklahoma has experienced as many magnitude 3 and greater quakes already in 2014 than for all of 2013. The number of felt earthquakes in the State is already by 253 after four months (only 222 recorded over entire 2013). Although most earthquakes occur naturally, always more scientists and bloggers link small earthquakes to oil and gas exploration.
