A water main ruptured and caused a 20-by-15-foot sinkhole to form before 11 a.m. Thursday. Water was shut off to the iconic deli where the famous coffee shop scene in ‘When Harry Met Sally’ was filmed. Four other businesses and eight residential buildings were affected.

The city water main, installed outside of the iconic Lower East Side eatery in 1959, ruptured Thursday morning, triggering a roughly 20 feet by 15 feet sinkhole, and flooding the street and the pastrami mecca’s basement — but the pastrami remains OK! Have no fear!

They were open during Hurricane Sandy, so of course they stayed open during a water main break!
