This is the worst drought hitting Brazil in decades!
It is even threatening water supplies to the country’s biggest city, Sao Paolo.
It is the worst water crisis to hit Sao Paulo in nearly 100 years. After nine months of unprecedented drought, 95% of the water has gone in the main reservoir of Sao Paolo, exposing the once hidden contamination (cars, bicycles, etc…). But no water rationing has been imposed yet to tackle the crisis.
BBC explains As explained by BBC:

People are loosing their jobs, as the region got only a third of the usual rain during Brazil’s wet season. The drought has also expanded to other states like Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. Terrible!
