The mystery boom reported by baffled residents on the northwest of the island proved to be this huge meteor that entered the atmosphere over that area.
A loud boom was reported by residents from the northwest of Puerto Rico on May 31, 2015 at about 11:15 pm.
At the same time, the Astronomical Society of the Caribbean (SAC) was flooded by reports of observers who spotted a giant green fireball crossing the sky behind the clouds.
Some even said they heard a double sky boom coming from the fireball explosion.
