Mysterious eels, unprecedent die-off, but what is going on the Nottawasaga River, Ontario?
Hundreds of mysterious eels have washed up on shore near the mouth of the Nottawasaga River and nobody knows why. Such an extreme mass die-off has never been experienced in the area. This is something completely foreign to residents’ eyes.
Although not positively confirmed yet, these eels appear to be a a type of peacock eel normaly found in the tropical waters of Thailand, India and Burma… That would be the first known report of peacock eels in the Great Lakes.
So what are these exotic and mysterious eels doing in Canada? Yes, how did they get here is the real concern. Maybe somebody has released the eels into the wild? But how to explaine their high numbers? Can they survive winter and establish a population? OMG were are getting invaded by creepy little fish.
