The new year began with a tragedy in Vila Velha, Brazil.
A gigantic stone broke away from the rocky hill over Boa Vista and rolled down the slope destroying 4 houses and injuring 15 people.
The giant rock fell down from the cliff in the early evening of Friday, January 1, 2016 at 7 p.m.
The rocky landslide wounded four and ten are missing. There is a report of a one dead resident which has not been confirmed.
Geologists cannot rule out the possibility of subsequent landslides.
Residents may have been buried.

Witnesses report that the fall of the giant stone was accompanied by a loud noise similar to an explosion, rattling homes around.
