A powerful sandstorm is currently sweeping across theprovinces of Phenyan-do, Hwanghae-do and Kanvando in North Korea.
The haboob, ‘Made in China’, is produced by the low atmospheric pressure over the Gobi Desert and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in north China.
Two days ago, this same dust storm turned a city red in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in north China.
The system then picked up enormous amounts of sand, moved over northeast China and and now engulfs the provinces of Phenyan-do, Hwanghae-do and Kanvando, North Korea.
Meteorologists warn that sandstorms are not going to weaken, but on the contrary, are becoming stronger and stronger.
This sand imported from China is considerably bothering Koreans as it penetrates everywhere – in apartments, car interiors, and electronics.
