This is the terrifying moment a massive swell has knocked three children off rocks in Western Australia’s south west, forcing a desperate scramble to safety. Footage shows the wave at Wyadup, near Yallingup, taking the children by surprise. The trio can then be seen scrambling for safety before another wave hits, knocking them down again. The force caused one of them to slip between the rocks.

The man who recorded the video told 7 News the swell reached more than five metres on Saturday.

A strong swell hits the rocks near Yallingup taking the three children by surprise.

The frightening incident happened on the same day that two fisherman were washed off rocks at notorious fishing spot Salmon Holes, in Albany. One man was critically injured but has since woken from a coma.

What we’ve seen in the course of the last 15, 16 years is 34 people die from coming off the rocks while fishing,” WA Premier Mark McGowan told 7 News. “That’s almost double the number of people killed by sharks.

The premier is pushing to trial compulsory life jackets at WA’s notorious fishing accident black spots.
